Ultrasonography

Ultrasonography uses high frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to visualize internal anatomic structures. Ultrasonography is safe, non-invasive; and, unlike Digital Radiography, does not expose the patient to electromagnetic radiation.

Our veterinarians utilize ultrasound for bladder imaging and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis (obtaining a sterile urine sample for testing); pregnancy examinations; abdominal scans, and various other diagnostic imaging purposes.

Additionally, referrals and consultations can be scheduled with a traveling board-certified specialist to perform ultrasonography on the premises, or images can be transmitted to an imaging specialist; either of whom may be able to provide a more in-depth and comprehensive diagnosis when required.
