Dr. Thomas A. Milos has a particular interest in the treatment of exotic pets and remains one of a few area veterinarians who cares for exotic pets. He is a member of the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV) and the Association of Sugar Glider Veterinarians (ASGV).
Our exotic pet patients include birds, ferrets, pocket pets, rabbits, and amphibians and reptiles, for which we strive to provide the same level of care as the rest of our patients, including offering an array of diagnostic and treatment options, some of which are specific to such species, including:
Our Laboratory services include utilizing a primary outside diagnostic laboratory which offers tests specific to exotic pets. Additionally, we utilize a specialized avian and exotic testing laboratory or, when necessary, refer to one of several university laboratories for exotic pet blood work.
For birds we stock a variety of Harrison’s Bird Foods® formulated diets, while for small mammals, reptiles, and other species of exotic pets we stock Oxbow® Carnivore Care and Critical Care diets.
In addition to the above medical services, we offer grooming services for our bird patients, which include routine wing, beak, and nail trims.
Harrison’s Bird Foods® is a family of certified organic, formulated diets that were created by avian veterinarians and nutritionists with the health of [companion birds] in mind. Their Handbook for a Healthier Bird, while primarily dealing with transitioning companion birds to a Harrison’s diet, contains a significant amount of information related to the nutritional aspects of companion bird health in general.
