While some municipalities lack the resources to adopt animals out directly, many animal control divisions offer animals for adoption by partnering with local volunteer organizations. This relationship often results in a formal animal shelter maintained in connection with a municipalitiy’s animal control division, often at the same location.
Animal control divisions should also be trained and equipped to handle local incidences involving wildlife and/or domestic pets, and related laws and ordinances.
